Grades Class Teacher | 2027-2028 School Year
Introduction
River Valley Waldorf School is seeking a warm, imaginative, and experienced educator to join our vibrant faculty as a First Grade Teacher. We are looking for a teacher who brings joy, curiosity, good humor, and a deep respect for the unfolding development of each child.
At River Valley, we believe that education is an art. Our teachers are given the professional freedom to bring their creativity, strengths, and individual gifts to the classroom while working within the rich developmental framework of Waldorf education. This means weaving story, movement, music, the arts, nature, and meaningful work together to create a classroom life that inspires children to wonder, explore, and strengthen capacities.
Our school is home to a dedicated and dynamic faculty, committed families, engaged leadership, and a growing community. We are seeking a colleague who is excited to contribute not only to the life of a classroom, but to the life of a school.

- Approaches teaching as a creative and artistic practice
- Values relationship and partnership with children, colleagues, and families

Life as a Grades Teacher
A grades classroom at River Valley is a place of wonder, rhythm, imagination, and beginning. We begin our days with movement and singing and create a classroom environment where children can experience the beauty and meaning of learning. Through stories, artistic and practical arts, mathematics, language arts, and nature, the teacher guides students into their first formal years of school with both warmth and purpose.
We are looking for an educator who will embrace the opportunity to teach creatively, think deeply, and meet children where they are, while bringing the curriculum alive through their own artistry and enthusiasm.
If you are an educator who believes that children deserve both high expectations and deep belonging, who finds joy in the work of teaching, and who wants to grow alongside a thoughtful and committed community, we would love to hear from you.
