Ways to Give
The Annual Appeal is an important part of River Valley’s annual fundraising to support operations. Your Annual Appeal gift supports quality Waldorf programming in the arts, faculty professional development, and special projects. Money raised through Annual Giving supports all of the programs at the school, as well as building and grounds maintenance and general operating expenses.
Each year River Valley relies on many to make an annual gift in support of these efforts. Annual Appeal gifts help to bridge the gap between revenue from tuition and the cost of providing a quality education. Every gift counts. We strive to reach 100% participation from our entire community – parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends.
In an effort to expand space for full programming as well as to increase tuition revenue and sustainability, River Valley Waldorf School initiated the Building Our Future Capital Campaign in 2014. As responsible caretakers of our institution, including its building and grounds, it is our honor to build and care for a school campus that will serve families and their children for generations to come.
We are proud to announce that River Valley Waldorf School has successfully raised over $2 million dollars for capital improvements on our campus. Lead by the generous support of Bader Philanthropies with it’s founding gift of $1million, our community rallied to support the campaign. An anonymous gift of $816,000 in support of an Early Childhood center allows us to increase enrollment in the Early Childhood program, a key component for sustainability. Our main building will see a number of improvements, all emphasizing environmental sustainability, including improving the efficiency of our heating system, new windows, all new flooring throughout the building, and other functional and aesthetic upgrades.
When the building and improvements are completed, we will have right-sized our school to include full size classrooms for all Early Childhood and Grade School classes, and increased the space for a full complement of programming that meets the needs of our curriculum that are critical to the Waldorf experience that River Valley provides to its community.
We are so grateful to our lead donors and generous community members who have made this project possible. Thank you.
Stepping Stone Fund
Several generous families, including members of the Board, have established The Stepping Stone Fund as an adjunct scholarship fund to help families who have been financially hit by the Coronavirus pandemic to still make the choice to return to River Valley Waldorf School next year. This funding will supplement existing financial-aid awards, and is also be available to families who did not apply for tuition assistance during the normal application period but now find their circumstances changed. Please express any interest to Erica Nichols.
The Stepping Stone Fund is open for additional tax-deducatible donations of any amount. You can click HERE to contribute, or write a check to RVWS with “Stepping Stone Fund” in the memo line.
In this time of uncertainty, many organizations that help families meet the requirements of basic survival and safety are facing an increased need for contributions. Thank you for demonstrating your dedicated support of River Valley Waldorf School with a donation. We are grateful.
Annual Gala and Auction
River Valley’s Annual Gala and Auction has been one of the highlights of the year for over 20 years. The auction and gala provide funding for operational expenses, scholarship, and special programming needs. Live music from our parent-led band, Moonshine and Millet, amazing food, and tons of fun are the hallmarks of this wonderful event.
PA Tax Credit Program
The EITC program enables Pennsylvania- registered businesses to redirect their state income tax dollars to River Valley Waldorf School to provide need-based scholarship funds to students.
The Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program gets the business community more involved in education by enabling them to support local independent schools and the families they serve at minimal cost, instead of sending their tax dollars to Harrisburg.
