River Valley Waldorf School sits amid woods and fields, near the small river-towns and villages that dot the Delaware River along the Pennsylvania/New Jersey border.  We are conveniently just over an hour from both New York City and Philadelphia; about 40 minutes from the Lehigh Valley. Housed in a former public elementary school building, our programs include grades one through eight, kindergarten, nursery and parent-child classes. We are proud to offer a strong professional development program for our faculty and of our ability to offer a full Waldorf curriculum, which currently includes: Spanish, Handwork, Music, Fine & Sculptural Arts (woodworking, clay & soapstone), Gardening and Eurythmy.

Available Positions

Eurythmy Block Teacher

River Valley Waldorf School is seeking a trained pedagogical eurythmist to teach a block of eurythmy in September/October of 2018 and a second block during the spring (April – June time frame) for a total 6-8 weeks. The blocks will include approximately 15 eurythmy lessons per week for kindergarten and grade school classes.  A piano accompanist will be available for lessons.

Parent-child Class Teacher – Fall 2018

The Garden Gate teacher leads classes with small groups of parents and young children. The teacher fosters a nurturing environment in class where teachers and parents cooperate in purposeful activity, which inspires the children in their play. Teachers lead by example, using beautiful, age-appropriate songs, rhymes and stories to aid parents in creating a healthy and harmonious rhythm for their child’s day. The weekly program includes adult crafts and child development discussions. The teacher also provides study materials to assist parents in deepening their understanding of the young child.

River Valley offers two, 16-week sessions of Garden Gate per year. Classes are offered several mornings a week from 9:00 am until 11:30 pm. RVWS is currently looking for someone to lead classes on one or more of the following days: Tuesday, Friday, Saturday. This is a part-time, hourly position.

Requirements:

  •             Waldorf Early Childhood training
  •             Lifeways or Sophia’s Hearth, a plus
  •             Experience in leading a parent/child program preferred.

 

Substitute Teachers needed:

River Valley Waldorf School is looking for substitute teachers for the 2017-18 and 2018-2019 school years. Early Childhood substitutes must have experience working with young children.
